Stress is Like a Veil

Go check out my first take on stress *shameless self-advertising* ;P

There is a quiet, silken veil
that drapes over your face.

It slips and slides,
this way and that,

So sometimes it chokes
'til all you know is musty cloth,
and the ache between your lungs.

And other days you can barely feel
its delicate, gossamer touch
fluttering over your cheeks.

That Ancient Cave

Sinking down to dusky depths,
Behind locked doors and iron chains.

Wading past pools of regret,
Past shaking heads and angry sighs.

Tripping over cracks and bumps;
It took so long to stand back up.

I stayed in there, that ancient cave,
For as long as I could bear.

But a glowing sun behind the fog
Would peak its head from time to time,

And as the road began to clear
Of dust and broken dreams and such,

New memories would take their place.

The sky was blue again as well,
Except occasional midnight storms,

And so a frown turned upside down;
to something quite like sweet delight.

Acceptance~

Acceptance is a collection

of sighs, tears, and felicity;

a tiny engraved saucer,

cracked and fragile at first,

that hardens over time.

Fleeting Changes~

How quick it is your day can change,

From sunlit skies to splattering rain,

From solitude to neon lights,

From peals of laughter into tears,

From buoyant grins to numbing chills.

Regret

As a somber graying raven,
Borne of endless forked paths,
Clawing mercilessly at your mind,
An inescapable despair
That haunts your solitary thoughts.

As a darkening stain of ink,
An indelible spot of murky black,
It soaks itself deep inside,
Impossible to be erased.

As an old, rusting nail,
It pins its point down deep within,
Lodging its roots in crevices
Where laughter, love, and light...

They'll never reach, though they may try.

So regret, that hideous, twisted claw,
Wraps its arms around your heart
And stays, a deadweight in your chest.

♧ Mother's Quartet ♧

Here comes a wind
Borne of the north,
A breezy sign
Of darkened days.

Here springs a sprig
Of lavender,
A violet promise
Of sunlit hope.

Here bursts a ray of light
That seeps through every broken mind,
A tiny golden fragment
Of all the colors in the wind.

Here drifts a crimson leaf
That floats past greying window panes;
A part of not-yet-here but almost-there
Of winding roads untraveled.

Inspired by Lewis Caroll's Imagination...

"A reflection sometimes
exposes more reality
than the object it echoes."

-- The Cheshire Cat

Like good little children,
We sit in the shade,
Reading our books,
Books with no pictures.

But just past the glass,
A blur of snowy white bounds past.
Tick tock, tick tock...
And the clink of a chain.

A maddening drop,
Past chairs and frogs and the strangest striped kittens,
Past Down and Even Further Down,
To teatime and frosted cakes.

And mazes of crimson roses
Filled with hedgehogs
And stubborn flamingoes,
And a late, late, late hare.

Then off it is, to a garden;
A most peculiar garden.
The flowers really don't sleep,
And someone ought to pluck those daisies!

And shrinking and growing
And shrinking and growing,
A whirlwind of madness
That doesn't seem to end.

But our feline friend just smiles wide
And inclines his head so slightly...

Snap. A glare. Off with its head!
And up the hole we go,
That maddening grin fading
Like fog at noon.

❈ Slightly Surreal ❈

My shoes are floating 'bove the ground,
if only just an inch.

The world is aglow with a tinge of silver,
and maybe a bit of gold.

Today, I feel slightly surreal,
if only just a hint.

We Are...

We are stars fallen in the sea,
Flashing fish before the falls.
We are crickets in a cage,
And veiled thoughts in velvet books.

Poisoned by the moonlight,
Inspired by the sky,
We are the children of the blackness
Between the cracks of time.

The Mind of an Introvert

from far far away,
in murky gray woods,
beneath sodden leaves
and an ashen forest floor,

I gaze toward the distance,
The sweeping fields of crops,
Like quivering quilts of green,
That cover the rolling hills.

Up toward the sky,
Blue as the lake below,
With silver flashing here and there
And children reading 'neath the trees.

from here i see the daylight,
see the people and their lives,
see their problems and their woes,
and i bask in my recluse.

Halfway to Nowhere~

Watch me wander endlessly,

Make my home in caverns deep,

Sleep beneath the boundless stars,

Halfway to nowhere, forevermore.

Sunday, October 16, 2016

Dear Books,

You seem to be my midnight train,
My silent, sweet retreat.

A passage, a journey,
That takes my hand
And leads me
Past the boundaries.

Past the nightmare of today,
Past whirling storms of thought.

Past golden trees with purple leaves
Past faerie queens and lands long lost.

Burying myself in a flurry of words,
I thank you for your time.

Never Bow Down~

I'd rather die

with my chin held high

than grovel and weep

at someone's feet.

A Choice of Travel

Push rewind
Back in time,
Back to moments
I can't find.

Back to days
Of airy grace,
Tranquil seas
And silken drapes.

Or stay right here
With sunsets gold,
And wondrous adventure
Quick and bold.

Illusion and Reality

"What I have shown you
is Reality.

What you remember,
that is the Illusion."

-- Sephiroth

Pastel Memories~

Memories fade of some day long gone,

With caged birds and their mournful song.

Over crumbling bridges we would run,

Under blurry skies and a wilted sun.

Little White Dove

Ok let's face it not my best piece but still it was inspired by the best so :P -- Aidyn's (Snailords) webtoooons XD

You fly with all the doves in the sky,
Flitting here and there between
The silken webs of my dreams.

And somehow,
By some breezy easterly wind,
you came fluttering softly
Into my arms.

I haven't the faintest idea
Of how you stepped into my life
And turned it completely upside down,
But I do have an idea
That I won't be letting you go.

♢ Lost Memories ♢

Wishful thinking,
Silent thoughts,
Tales of times
That don't exist.

Quiet laughter,
Hidden tears,
Shutters closed
And peaceful bliss.

Rambling words,
Pointless walks,
Cheerful birdsong,
Barking dogs.

Towering trees,
Dusty books,
Sunlight seeping
Through the blinds.

Empty house,
Bubbling creek,
Flowers on
The windowsill.

Of all the things
That live today,

We don't have time
To live again
In all of our lost memories.

♡ The Lonely Side of Love ♡

If you love her,
Spare a glance.

But cut the strings
And let her dance.

If you love him,
Keep him free.

Watch his smile
But let him be...

Motivation

I can stop here.
To look back for a second.

At the worry.
The anxiety.
The longing,
The yearning
To be in this exact moment.

Time stretching on and on,
A year, a century, an age.
Counting down
The months, the days, the hours.

All to this.
Right now.

Waiting, enduring...
For relief, closure, finality.
Maybe even pride.

We Won't Die Young, But We'll Live Fast~

We'll keep our heads turned to the sun,
Away from relics of the past.

And though our journey's just begun,
The future we can build to last.

The Sun

The Sun, the star,
Shines bright on dreary days.

A warm, shimmering light
To shine through the fog.

And yes, some Mist may swarm your mind,
But still it's only mist.
And in time it'll cease to exist.

So hold on tight and above all,
Don't you dare forget the Sun, love.

✧ Silver ✧

Sequel to Gold (and technically the rest of the Colors series too, but whatever ;P)

Silver is the tinkle of an ice cream truck,
And a cool bathe in moonlight.

A shining arrow that pierces through the flames,
Silver; the evanescence of peace.

Despair

A pressure that builds
And tugs at ur chest.

A poison that seeps through your mind
And stays there,
Crawling its way through every thought.

And you can see the light
at the end of the tunnel,
But the sun hurts your eyes
And you turn away.

And so the monster surrounds you
And pulls at every part of you
to binge on food and love and pain.

A Path of Fate

The stars are a path of fate,
Their light, a heavenly mandate.

And many a man has been lead astray,
Thoughtlessly throwing their life away.

The world may not be cheery and bright,
But under the seams there's always light.

So keep your eyes up to the sky;
Together now, you and I,

We'll paint those black walls gold.

Ephemeral Joy

From here I watch the golden Sun
On its journey across the horizon.

Across the mountains, cities, and lakes,
And villages nestled between the hills...

A thousand problems can darken a day
But it only takes a glance,

A moment of ephemeral joy,
To blow all the clouds away.

Silence in a Jar

Silence comes in a jar;

A jar of bits and pieces

Of thoughts and dreams unspoken.

A Game of Life

You sit in the dark
With a board on your lap.

Fate and Destiny circle around,
Watching your move like crows on a carcass.

Your last Knight glows and moves,
Pulsating a bright blue in the shadows.

Out of the inky black,
A pair of royal purple eyes narrow into slits.

The Knight falters;
A sword glints in the dark...

And a pile of ash lies on the floor;
Checkmate.

Life stares deep down into your eyes,
A cruel smile curling on his pallid lips.

Imagination~

My mind will twist and turn as it pleases,
Free and unperturbed.

Full of thousands of melodies that sing as one,
Ideas that flourish and blossom.

And Imagination on its flowering path
Continues on, leaving our Society far behind.

Twirling through the cave of thoughts,
A stream of color in a world of ash.

☀ Twilight ☀

Twilight is a magical time
That lifts you up and away from your chair...

To a glorious place filled with colors you can't even name,
And a wondrous sky of blazing wildfire.

A golden orange hue
That seeps, ever so slowly, to blue.

And purple, and indigo, and all the colors of the sea,
Jumbled into one.

And the air is fresh and crisp;
A cooling sensation that travels
From your head down to your toes.

And nothing matters but the wind in you hair...

In a whimsical land
Where sunset is always the hour.

☾ The Night ☾

Here the night comes,
A smooth silken sheet of unfathomable blue,
Lined with golden thread.

And here the woods lay quietly still,
The ferns fast asleep;
A sonorous silent sound.

But there the city sings,
Of shining lights and life,
With streets full and bright.

It's shocking how different
The night can be
Though the clocks are ticking as one.

Words, Take II

Short little anecdotes that sputter in my mind;
A garden of hopes and dreams,
And eccentric little trinkets.

Winking and shining, they twirl in the light,
And come to rest in place,
Peacefully at my feet.

Like golden glowing fireflies
They glimmer in the dark,
Lighting up my path

And leading me on my way.

Words (Take I) -- A little beginning blog experiment from little middle school me.

Dear Writing~

A river of words that flow through my pen,
Endless and eternal.

Faces change and bodies move,
But you shall stay the same.

Timeless stories forever frozen,
An imprint of my mind.

You bring me life in silence,
A soft and soothing spirit.

Steady and delightfully spontaneous,
A pleasure to have your acquaintance.

The Sky~

Some days the sky is calm.
Some days the rain is gentle.
Some days the sun peeks through the clouds
And shines.

Some days the sky will storm.
Some days lightning cracks across the sky, and
The Winds will scream and rage.
And the snow will fall thickly.

But some days the sky is confused.
Some days the sun smiles,
And yet, there comes the rain.
Some days, the sky is confused.

∞ Capturing Infinity ∞

Our fingers reach on towards the stars,
Below us, passing streams of cars.

We keep our shining Lights in jars,
Our minds a mystery more than Mars.

But at Twilight we come to this tree,
In hopes of capturing infinity.

☁ Dread ☁

As a suffocating veil,
It drapes o'er your heart.

A devilish fiend
That sits on your mind.

And so you sit alone in the dark,
weighted down by a cloud of Dread.

╰☆╮Young and Relentless╰☆╮

"Jetlag daydream,
No permanent address.
It's like a memory fading,
Of a New York sunset."

-- Against the Current

Passion

As a feral fire it gnaws at your heart,
Willing you to heed it and do your part.

As a churning storm it pushes you on,
Ever so surely towards the dawn.

So Passion, a bright, driving force,
Leads you steadily on your course.

☙ Neverland ☙

They speak of a place where dreams run deep,
And magic, from every crack, does seep.

They say it's a place where we'll be free;
A place where all Lost kids should be.

A mystic land ruled by Peter Pan,
I doubt we'll leave, although we can.

With deep blue seas and golden sand,
We'll stay forever, in Neverland.

♫ Moosic ♫

Tis times when Darkness blankets all,

And Flame bursts forth from caverns deep,

When music, with her swaying song,

Doth lend us life in times of need.

People and Air Fresheners

People are like air fresheners.

Some are like "vanilla," or "cupcake."
They're super sweet at first,
And then they're sickening.
Then you want to throw them out.

Some are like "cotton," or "rain."
Almost invisible, and you can hardly tell they're there,
But suddenly, your whole bathroom just smells nice.

Then some people are like "cashmere," and "pumpkin spice,"
And they smell super friendly and cozy,
And make you want to sit there forever.

But then sometimes they get too friendly,
And too close to your memories and old nostalgia.
And then you wanna get rid of them too.

Life would be nice if people were air fresheners
And you'd know exactly what kind you wanted.

Then our bathrooms would always smell nice.

Here I Lie

Tick, tock, the clock runs on,

Creeping towards the crack of dawn.

But here I lie, a restless mind,

Searching for the answers that I can't find.

Wonder

They call it "childish wonder,"

But what they cannot see, is

We're all children of the Earth,

And wonder, that we do.

~Flower Children~

A leaf, a twig, a rock, a rose.
Open your heart and hear our prose.

We are neither here nor there,
If only a presence in the air.

But we build mountains, spin the breeze,
Walk 'midst frozen silver trees.

We write backwards upside down,
Unspoken rulers sans our crowns.

We dwell in lakes and on the beach,
Always there just out of reach.

Cherished myths from tales of old,
We dance forever in fields of gold.

Grey

Grey is quiet thinking on a cloudy day,
the soft taps of rain on the window pane.

Grey is somber apathy,
the brush of a passing stranger.

Grey is a rambling down secluded streets,
the crack of gravel underfoot.

And the numbness when your tears run dry,
that's gray too.

And So The Clock Strikes Twelve

So she arrives; and odd, fleeting hour.
Amidst times past and times to come.

As now, faintly, strange things scuffle about;
And creatures of the night come out.

As a strange, hushed Silence pervades the air,
The branches moan in their despair.

As hushed whispers, never heard in this room,
Are present in the gath'ring gloom.

As the desperate, pale, ghostly light grows weak,
The full moon rises to its peak.

As the clock tolls and echoes through the house,
Twelve chimes; the shadow of a mouse.

So comes Midnight, peculiar, peaceful pocket of time,
Between an everlasting past and a future soon to come.

Moving

It starts with boxes.
And it builds.
Loans are settled,
Money is paid.
Room after room,
My old life disappears.

Here come the trucks.
Couches are wrapped,
The house is bare.
Then comes the waiting.
In an empty home,
Hollow and dark;
Echoes of the past.

To escape to a new place.
Strange and cold.
Five nights of sleeping on a couch,
And aching backs and sore muscles.

And new furniture arrives,
White and new and clean.
These days are riddled with
Headaches and sleepless nights.

Then everything stops and settles;
A pensive silence returns.

And thus a new life begins.

Balance [Take Two]

"Run not from the darkness.
Shield not your eyes from the light.
Embrace the darkness as well as the light.
For does the light not cast shadows?
And without the dark, how can we know light?
Both are one and the same,
separate, yet joined.
As left and right,
as male and female,
as up and down,
are dark and light.
Without one, the other can have no meaning.
As they are two phases of the same energy,
know that in darkness, there is light.
And in light, there is darkness.

Autumn

"It's so strange that autumn is so beautiful,
yet everything is dying."

Will You Belong?

"Welcome to my nightmare.
I think you're gonna like it.
I think you're gonna
feel like you belong."

-- Alice Cooper

How Much?

"Everyone has darkness in them;
it's just how much you let out."

Ignorance

"What we call evil
is simply ignorance
bumping its head in the dark."

-- Henry Ford

What do you suppose we
can do to fight the darkness
in which we drown?"

Hai!

Hai guys!

Okay so maybe I went on a William Shakespeare spree right there, but come on who doesn't love a little Shakespeare? (All the students boo)

Ahem. Anyways, there is literally no reason for this post (whoo go me) but I decided to take time and say haaiiii to all my fellow bored internet hubbies.

So hai.

PS: You're bored so I'll leave now.

PPS: I've successfully wasted a minute of your life.

PPPS: Your welcome.

Let's Get Down to Business (to defeat the huns...no? okay no it is then)

...So a quick disclaimer...

I DON'T OWN ANY OF THE PICTURES ALRIGHT? THEY BELONG TO THEIR RESPECTIVE OWNERS.

ALRIGHT KEWL. WE'RE DONE HERE.

© 2016 Annabelle <-- Seriously Annabelle? WTF do you need that?

This Love

Woah things just got sappy =_=

This Love is like a roller coaster.
Slowly and carefully it starts.
It's soft, and sweet, and uncertain.
The Beginning is a delicate operation.
Then the climax arrives. The top.
The peak is fleeting,
Full of thrills and excitement.

But the fall is fast too.
One blink and it's over.

Just a memory.

Is it even worth remembering?

☼ Stress is Like the Beach (I know, ironic right?) ☼

You stand at the shore, toes tucked firmly in the sand.
The sea laps gently against your toes and you close your eyes,
Enjoying the feeling of having a purpose.

The water recedes and returns to push at your ankles.
The sand beneath you shifts the slightest bit.
In the time it takes to exhale and open your eyes,
The waves have reached your knees.

Just as quickly, the water rises to slap harshly against your hips, then stomach.
Your breath quickens as you lose all control.

Sand slides out from under you, washed out by the tide, and you slip.
And you fall.
Down, down into the deep, suffocating embrace of the ocean.

Your hands reach out, desperately grabbing at the last fading rays of sunlight.
But the Sun is gone, its last hopeful, golden glimmer snuffed out
By the darkening gloom of the sea.

And you are alone.

♤Green♤

Small ferns tickle my ankles as I walk past
And a creek bubbles along cheerfully,
Its waters masking the faint sounds of a highway behind me.

The birds are singing somewhere off in the distance
And their melody fills the air,
Echoing through the trees.

Rays of sunlight poke through the dense canopy
And bathe the woods in warmth.
Towering giants surround me on all sides,
Their trunks sturdy and unyielding beneath my fingers.

A willow stands to my right,
Its branches draping close to the ground, brushing my arms.
I lift myself into its grasp and away from the soft soil,
So different from the cold cement I’m used to.

Leaves form a curtain around me,
Waving slightly in the wind and creating a breeze,
Gently tossing my hair behind my shoulders.

Slowly, I slide down from the willow
And head towards the heart of the forest;
The city may be close, but here, my world is green.

Gold

Gold is the setting sun,
The light that seeps through the blinds.
Gold is dancing in front of the mirror with your friends,
For no reason whatsoever.
Gold is laughing so hard your stomach hurts,
And sleepovers and pillow fights.
Gold is the quiet banter from the living room,
The soft clink of glasses at dinner.

And the happiness you feel at the end of the day
That shows through your smile,

That is golden.
