Roadtrip, CA, December 2017

Harmonies, guitar strums,
Bass drum in my ear.
Eyelashes, illuminated
by the sunset to my left.

Wind howls past,
A lonely truck rumbles by,
Leaving a trailing plume of dust
In its trail
And in my hair.

Lines of trees stretch to the horizon,
And clumps of yellow, withered grass
Cover the hills
Like a thick blanket.

No wifi,
The map is wholly blank.

Just me,
My music,
And miles upon miles
Of untouched land.

A Tidbit on Time~

A funny little something

That flows eternally,

Changes with every moment,

And silently fills the spaces in between.

Finality

The moon is different tonight. There's a soft sort of devastation in its silvery haze; a perfect bit of lighting to accompany the numbing realization settling in my veins. Tomorrow I'll be gone. Far, far way from mossy river banks, winding cathedral steps, and rolling hills cloaked in shadow at the first hint of dawn. Time is on fast forward. It feels like only hours ago the week had just begun, yet here I am at 1 AM, on Sunday. Damp hair, bare feet, and a suitcase full of memories to take home.

This is a bit of prose I wrote about a week ago as a tribute to some time I spent in Switzerland :))

Sampling, Not Buying

Eyes drifting,
Subtle scanning,
Shelter-seeking.

Still staring,
Glassy gazing,
 Stupid wondering.

Trying a bite,
Detesting the taste,
Putting it down.

Tearing away now,
Turning around,
Regretting the choice.

Cutting the ties,
Snipping the strings,
Numbing the ache.

Escape

I covet golden autumn woods
With trees that bask in glowing light
And sway gently to an easy breeze.

I want to lay on mossy trunks
And hear the stream that tumbles past
And stare for hours at passing clouds.

I crave the feel of crunching leaves
Beneath my feet as silence coats
My every breath that rolls into the morning air.

I need to know I'm all alone,
To feel the rough and untouched bark,
To see these peaks that stretch for miles.

For mountainsides and rolling hills
And freedom in forests, wild and undisturbed,
I long so much it hurts.

welp i haven't posted in a while hehehe :'D so hello again

Indigo

Indigo is the soft ambience of traffic
coming through your open window.
And the cool evening breeze that ruffles your hair.
Indigo is the muffled chatter from the living room downstairs
That flows through the crack under your door.

Indigo is the crickets in your backyard,
Chirping bright and clear even in the darkest midnight.
And indigo is the loud beat of disco music,
And dancing through the night

☂ She's Thunderstorms ☂

She's a beautiful, broken, jagged scar
On a sapling dotted with dew.

She's thunderstorms and hurricanes,
Whirling snow and icy hail.

A miracle, a tragedy,
A sunlit window spotted with rain.

She's a wax-sealed jar, a locked up room
With rusty keys tossed out to sea.

♖ Paper Kingdom ♖

Folds of crimson, gold, and blue,

A timeless work of vivid hues,

And walls of hardened granite too,

That keep away the foreign kings, true,

But hide away the fiery cues

Of sunsets and their golden views

From starry eyes and folded hands

With dreams of different, windswept lands.
